Moldova election files

May 8, 2009
Robert Schuman Foundation– the main French think-tank in Europe, just published an interesting analysis of the recent elections in Moldova and the main international files of Chisinau government. According to the Foundation researchers, many of the Moldovan citizens living abroad have not been able to express their right to vote, despite opposition demands-  especially the opposition of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM). It reminds about the tough Communist Party (CP) campaign, started long before the elections  and marked by violences, intimidating the opposition and the violation of the press freedom. A special place is dedicated to social campaign promises of the CP targeting its mainly voters – people of a certain age living  in rural areas. Among Vladimir Voronin and CP promises there are the developing national network of distribution of natural gas, supply of drinking water in each town and the construction of at least 1,000 km of European standard roads by the end of 2010.
